a quick update to ada’s film depository

hello all!

a quick announcement: starting today, i will be implementing paid subscriptions to ada’s film depository. i still uphold the philosophy of keeping art & media free to all, so all of my writing will be available to any subscriber, regardless of whether you pay or not. any support of my writing, monetary or not, is greatly appreciated.

paid subscriptions will simply become an option for those who wish to support me financially in addition to subscribing and reading my work. subscriptions are $5 monthly or $50 annually, and you can cancel anytime — no hard feelings. you can also become a founding member for any amount greater than $50 a year if you are feeling extra generous (suggested amount $75).

in the next month, i’m making a big change in my life — i’m moving across the country to study journalism. this has been a goal of mine for a while, and i’m very excited to attend a dream program of mine to do so. however, because of this change, soon i will no longer be working a regular job for the near future, which is why supporting me monetarily will be especially appreciated. additionally, this new change will affect my schedule, and so the frequency of my posts may decrease. if you want to see continued regular posting, supporting me financially is a great way to do so by letting me know that my work is of value to you.

lastly, i want to give a big thank you to everyone who has subscribed to me recently, as my following has grown fairly significantly over the past month or so (and of course, lots of love to everyone who’s stuck with me for much longer). i began writing on substack when i was 16, hoping to gain a broader reach with the film reviews i was publishing in my school’s newspaper, and i love everyone who’s taken the time to support and read my writing over the past few years.
